How do I find and cancel forgotten auto-pays on my bank account or card?

Last checked 21 Oct 2026 · by BachatLab

Check three places: your UPI app's AutoPay list, your card's standing instructions on your bank's page, and your bank statement for the same amount leaving every month. You can cancel each one yourself, and the steps are below.

Three places auto-pays hide

  • UPI AutoPay: subscriptions and bills you approved with your UPI PIN.
  • Card standing instructions: recurring card payments you approved once. You can see and cancel them on your bank's own e-mandate page.
  • Your bank statement: the same name and amount leaving every month or year, even if you forgot you agreed.

UPI AutoPay: how to cancel

Open the UPI app you used, go to Profile or Settings, open AutoPay or Mandates, pick the merchant and choose Cancel. Confirm with your UPI PIN.

Card auto-pays: your bank's own page

Most banks let you see and cancel card standing instructions on one page. You verify with your card details and an OTP, find the merchant and choose Cancel. These links are from the banks' own pages:

Find the ones you forgot

  1. Download your last 3 to 6 months of statements from your bank or card app.
  2. Look for the same name and the same amount repeating every month, quarter or year.
  3. For each one, ask: do I still use this? If not, cancel it with the steps above.
  4. Check next month's statement to make sure it stopped.
